Educause is dedicated to helping organizations stay up to date on the latest technology trends and make better-informed decisions. Through publications and a wide array of conferences and other educational opportunities, the organization helps its members advance their knowledge, make connections, and build networks.

In April of 2018, 700 information security and privacy professionals gathered in Baltimore for the 16th annual Educause Security Professionals Conference. The three-day conference provided participants with the latest information on information security, privacy, risk management innovations, strategies, and collaboration.

Attendees chose from a range of general sessions, including two featuring Jessica Barker and Tony Sager. Barker, the co-founder at RedactedFirm, led a session titled “Cybersecurity Awareness is Dead! Long Live Cybersecurity Awareness!” in which she discussed the connection between understanding sociological, psychological, and behavioral economics of human nature and cybersecurity issues. Sager, the senior vice president and chief evangelist of the Center for Internet Security, presented “Growing Up in Cyber, But Is Cyber Growing Up?” The session discussed observations on the evolution of the industry.
